Yes, much awaited modification is now a reality in Server 8. AD recycle bin has a GUI.
Following the setup of 2008 R2, the AD recycle bin in Server 8 is disabled by default. The good thing is that you can enable and manage it using AD Administrative Center. In order to enable it, launch the AD admin centre and select your domain. Check this post if you are in metro interface and want to launch the admin centre. Either right click your domain or use the right hand pane to get to the “Enable Recycle Bin” option.
It is an irreversible process and hence you are prompted to be absolutely sure.
Depending on your network, you might have to wait for the AD replication.
You have a “Deleted Objects” container in the admin centre now.
Any deleted AD object will end up in this container from which you can restore the object (puts it back to the original location) or restore to a location of your choice.
Nice to see it graphically in Server 8
Much awaited feature.
