As Exchange 2010 has been RTM’d, many will be testing a co-existence scenario with Exchange 2007 SP2 and 2010. Microsoft supports installing 2007 SP2 and 2010 management tools on the same box for managing your messaging infrastructure. You heard it right, on the same box! And for that very reason, it made sense to support Powershell v2 for both the versions.
Though Exchange 2007 SP2 supports Powershell v2, it can’t take advantage of the new features in v2 like Powershell Remoting. The powershell features on 2007 SP2 remains the same as v1, but it is just that you can install v2 now as a pre-requisite for both 2007 SP2 and 2010 server as well as management tools installation.
