Cumulative Update 2 for Exchange 2013 RTM deployment has been released by the Exchange Team.

As you should know by know, the cumulative updates in Exchange 2013 are full builds (around 1.3GB) and hence can be used to install on a brand new server. If you are moving from Exchange 2013 RTM, you can upgrade to CU2 without applying CU1.

CU2 Exchange 2013

Cumulative update 2 increases the number of databases per server from 50 to 100 (for Enterprise editions only). In addition to bug fixes, Exchange 2013 RTM CU2 introduces enhancements in the following areas.

  • OWA Redirection
  • High Availability
  • Managed Availability
  • Cmdlet Help
  • OWA Search Improvements
  • Malware Filter Rules

The CU2 needs a schema upgrade and the setup will specify any required components that are missing.  After you install this cumulative update, you cannot uninstall CU2 to revert to an earlier version of Exchange 2013. If you uninstall CU2, Exchange 2013 is removed from the server.
