The StartSSL Free (Class 1) digital certificates are provided by StartCom without charge. They provide modest assurances and are meant to secure personal web sites, public forums or web mail. All mobile phones and browsers won’t have the root CAs, but you can tackle it easily in a lab environment.

Certificates For Exchange does all kind of certificates for a very low price.

There is a $60 version of startssl, in which you can have unlimited number of certs, normal & SAN ones. But, you have to scan and send them every proof of your identity ;)

Is this just SSL or do they do free SAN certs?
You should have asked Raj :-) .. Been using StartSSL for at least 3 years for my Digital ID’s. Commodo also provide ‘free’ certs (digital ID’s) although there are limitations to their web certificates which i believe are 3 months.
