Gather Organizational Info In Exchange 2010 Console…

Exchange 2010 console has been given a face lift to include organizational information like the number of mailboxes in use, number of users with owa enabled, number of standard and enterprise cals in use etc.

Let’s take a closer look. To start with, launch EMC and select Microsoft Exchange On-Premises. Either right click and select “Gather Organizational Information” or select it from the actions pane.

Run the wizard so that the information is gathered and displayed in the console.

Once the wizard completes, you get three expandable titles : Organization, Server and Recipient Summary.

Organization Summary shows the total number of databases, database copies, standard and enterprise cals. It is a good way to find out the number and type of cals you need for your network.

Server Summary shows the total number of 2010, 2007 & 2003 servers and the number of different server roles present in the organization.

Recipient Summary shows the total number of recipients, mailboxes, groups, contacts, owa users, activesync users etc.

You can always gather the latest information by running the “Gather Organization Information” wizard anytime. This is a welcome change as it gives the admin a clear idea about the messaging environment!
