Rollback Lync Server 2010 Forest Prep

I got a phone call from a customer who wanted to know whether it was possible to rollback forest preparation for Lync Server 2010. They only had an approved change request for the schema upgrade, but the engineer got carried away and did the forest prep too. Their reporting tool started emailing the creation of all the universal groups related to Lync.

Yes, it is possbile was my answer and it is much simpler command in Lync 2010. While OCS 2007 R2 had Lcscmd and couple of switches, all Lync 2010 needs is to run Disable-CsAdForest from the Shell & it rolls back all forest prep steps.

You can use the –Force parameter with Disable-CsAdForest if the domain was prepared as well. Or Disable-CsAdDomain will do the trick. Undo the domain changes first and then the forest one though.

You can prepare the forest and domain by running Enable-CsAdForest & Enable-CsAdDomain if you are a Shell person.
